Example of #IoT bridging the gap between utility power distribution and distributed energy systems: A PaDECS® IoT-controller/gateway (same as used in homes) monitoring a High Voltage Regulator and integrating it with the IoT control of a community grid battery energy storage system and grid connection, located downstream in the remote town of Cape Jervis. It enables peak-load lopping of the feeder at the substation connection point by the battery located at 10km distance in town. The ARENA-supported project, led by the Uni of Adelaide and SA Power Networks has been delivered by PowerTec. PaDECS uses the Freestyle Technology IoT platform.
